Today's word: Brave
GO
Acts of bravery take place around us every day. Because really, being brave comes in many different forms and being brave doesn't only require putting on a uniform and making the choice to serve and protect our country.
But today I do want to write about those brave men and women who put on that camouflage uniform. This is where my mind immediately went when I pulled out my iPad, browsed through new emails and discovered the word Lisa-Jo was asking us to write for five minutes on was Brave. Maybe this is because my evening was spent sharing with a ladies group at my church on supporting our military.
Never forget their sacrifices.
Their sacrifices require bold acts of bravery—acts of bravery many of us may never fully understand. Too many times their acts of bravery lead to an ultimate sacrifice. This is where my heart lies friends...to never forget how brave they are. We are the land of the free because of the brave.
Forgive me for using this space to make a simple request. The month of May is Military Appreciation Month. To my many, many writer friends...could today be a day where you take another five minutes and write a letter to a service member? Your letter can be sent to the address below and will be included in comfort care packages sent to our men and women bravely serving in harms way.

DeleteBeth, what a blessing to read this today! My husband is in the Naval Reserve, and he served in Afghanistan from Sept 2008 - July 2009. We are preparing for a big move across the country so he can teach at the Naval Academy. Thank you for this encouragement!
ReplyDeleteAmy, I'm so happy to connect here. THANK YOU to you and your husband for your sacrifices. I will pray for you as you prepare for your move. My son also serves in the Navy and he and his wife just made a cross country move so I appreciate how much challenging they can be...they take lots of bravery. Many blessings to both of you.
DeleteGreat post, Beth. My son's best friend in currently in boot camp, and my brother was in the army.

DeleteBeth,
ReplyDeleteGreat words we all need to be reminded of!! So thankful for those who serve and especially those severely injured in the line of battle. I wrote a note of encouragement to one of our paralyzed vets. Blessed is he who would lay day his life for a friend!! Keep up the marvelous ministry you have with military wives and families!
Love,
Bev
Thank you my friend. Thank you for your heart towards our wounded warriors. Much love, Beth
DeleteBrave so we can be brave. I love those who sacrifice so much to keep our country free--both on foreign soil and those the wives, children, husbands, and parents who miss them. Yes, I will gladly write a letter.
