Three Word Wednesday: He is Enough

I'd love to leave you with great words today but I have none. The past couple weeks I've kept my Three Word Wednesday posts short and have shared with you words that have inspired me from the book Let Hope In and left you with encouraging lyrics from the song "Your Grace Finds Me."

What do I have for you this week?

A wonderful weekend was spent getting to know the soldiers my husband will deploy with and also meeting their family members. There is a bond among military families that is hard to explain. Before the weekend I did not know these people. Now we are a great big family. I'm grateful we take this new and scary journey together. God really does give us just what we need.

My husband and I attended a Military Chapel service on Sunday and the Chaplain opened up with the verse from Jeremiah 21:35, "I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint."

During his brief sermon he said words that have stuck with me. "Come to Him and He will give your soul a place to breathe. He will give you rest."

"Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light."  ~ Matthew 11:28-30

Even though the sermon was short, I still found myself taking notes. I look back at what I wrote and see the words "He will never leave you." As I read them I begin to breathe in His great grace.

Maybe the great words I want to leave you with are: He is enough.

I can feel the loneliness of a year without my husband. My heart is weary and the road ahead looks dark. There is a part of me that wants to crawl in to a hole and hide until he returns. But God (remember, "But God" is always good news) is my strength and my portion forever. He is enough.

"I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go. I will meet all your needs according to My glorious riches. Nothing in all creation will be able to separate you from My Love." ~ Jesus Calling (Romans 8:38-39)

Is your heart weary? Accept His invitation to come to Him. Apart from Him we will never find the rest our souls long for. In the darkness He has treasures waiting for us.

"And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness--secret riches. I will do this so you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name."  ~ Isaiah 45:3

I promise you, He is enough. He will refresh and satisfy. How do I know this? Because our God keeps ALL His promises. When we accept His invitation He gives us everything we need.

Let hope in.
Breathe in His great grace.
He is enough.

  1. Dear Beth,

There's so much love in this post... your tender heart is revealed in each word. I see a brave woman who God is fashioning day-by-day in His image and it draws you to Him like never before. He has a feast for you during this time of separation. And we're here with you, too... just sitting with you today and in the days up ahead. Who needs words when you have love... love is a language all of its own. Sending more love your way with prayers....

  2. He is enough is one of those truths we all need to hear and repeat over and over. He is enough, and yet He gives us those people along the way that lift us up. He is so gracious and loving. God bless you today, Dear Friend.

  6. Thinking about you as you prepare, I can't even imagine how hard that must be. And I often think that the greatest gift of military families is the instant community you find yourself with. I'm so glad you have that sense of support in extended family who understand.

  9. Beth, that verse from Jeremiah is a gem. I am putting that in my journal tonight.
    Praying for you.

I am so thankful that God is meeting you where you are and giving you comfort and courage and peace for this season. He goes before you...

I am doing a little study on Psalms 139 right now with some online friends, and we looked at vs 5 yesterday. In the NIV it reads, "He hems me in behind and before. He lays His hand upon me." He's got you.

    Hugs

  12. Beth, your beautiful, truth-filled words brought tears to my eyes. While reading your post, I was remembering the day I hugged my husband tight and wept as he was leaving for three months to live in Germany for his job. It was hard for me, but Jesus was truly more than enough.

I can only imagine how hard it is for your husband to be deployed for a year. But, like you wrote, "He is Enough." I pray that Jesus will continue filling you with His peace.

  13. Hi Beth,

Thanks so much for the opportunity to link up today.

Thank you also for your beautiful post. I am so thankful you had a wonderful weekend getting to know the other soldiers who will be with your husband. Jeremiah 21:35 is such an encouraging verse isn't it.

I am so thankful that whatever we face, our Saviour is enough - who understands our fears, our worries, and never leaves our side through it all. Yes, He does give everything we need :)

You and your husband are in my prayers.

    God bless

  14. Beth, I honestly can't imagine what you are going through right now. A whole year simply seems to long, too great a sacrifice. Thank you for your beautiful testimony, your brave words, and your bold trust in God who holds you through it all. He is enough! Always! I pray you will keep clinging to Him in the days and year to come. Often have to remind myself that the antidote to fear is the assurance of God’s presence and protection. God bless you, Beth.

  18. Beth, I am a first time reader. I found your blog through the Prowess and Pearl link up. Beautiful post. My parents are both in the military and there is an unspoken bond, especially with those they have been deployed with. I am so glad you are safely reunited. Great words. I am your new follower, cannot wait to read more.
