Get to Know You Monday (Vol. 9)

I have missed you lovely people. As I write I am still in San Diego. My flight home does not arrive back in Chicago until my bed time so I am keeping today's post short again.

What is your favorite summertime activity?

Bike riding has become a new favorite of mine. While exploring a marina in San Diego this past week I came across this cute old bike and now buying an old school bike is on my bucket list. A basket in the front is a must have.

Before next summer comes along I will be on the hunt for a fun old school bike and also one more appropriate for the purpose of exercise. Participating in a few bike races may need to be a new goal of mine.

When my husband is around, we love going to street festivals in downtown Chicago during the summer. Our true favorite activity though . . . relaxing on our front porch together. Not much activity in that but right now the thought of having him by my side again sounds way better than a bike ride.

How about you? I do love hearing from you and getting to know you better.

Up next week . . . because being around boats for several days has me adding owning a boat to my bucket list . . . If you could buy a boat what would you name your boat? I figured you may need a week to ponder this question.

  1. Hmmm. My favorite summer activity? Might just be camping. The summer temperatures make it so much more fun! I'm a fan of shorts and sandals as opposed to long johns and down jackets - just sayin'...

I also like riding in our old Jeep with the doors and roof off. The wind in my face and hair, using a stick shift - ahh, makes me feel young again.

One of the things that my hubby and I do in the summer is go to an annual Western Festival in Utah. There are all sorts of vendors, an old-fashioned cookout, a film festival, and the biggest highlight is meeting many stars from old TV shows and movies that we watched when we were growing up. We dress up, too. My hubby is Virgil Earp from the movie Tombstone (you can see a photo of him on the sidebar of my blog), and I am a demure (maybe) city girl dressed in lavender and lace. We have so much fun.

And Beth, I only live about 1 1/2 hours away from San Diego! Next time you think of visiting, let me know ahead of time. Maybe we can plan to meet up in person!!

Now THAT would be a favorite summer activity!

    GOD BLESS!

    1. The jeep riding sounds like oh so much fun, Sharon! When I come back your way lets meet to do some of that together!! My son will be stationed in San Diego for several more years so I will surely be that way multiple times. How AWESOME that would be to meet in person. I'm all excited now. As always, you make me smile big. Thanks for that. Blessings. xoxo

  2. Beth, my new favorite summer activity is biking with my husband on our tandem! We just finished a week-long ride across the state of Iowa (RAGBRAI) where I fell in love with biking all the more! Saw lots of older bikes too... with baskets! Would love to bike with you some time! Great question! Glad to be back here on Mondays! Blessings!

  3. My favorite summer is activity is to escape to a cooler area! For us, that means either driving up into the Sierras or over to the ocean. We love both and are thankful that each are only a couple of hours away!

  4. My favorite sumer activity is leisurely mornings. I am one of those morning people many find obnoxious--not because I wake them up, but because I wake up early and and wide awake. I love the early morning because it is often the only time I have alone. During the school year, I get up at 4:00 to have enough time to spend with God, review social media, maybe write a little, and then get to school on time. The problem during school is I have to plan my time and sometimes rush to get everything done.

During the summer, I don't get up quite so early. And I can do my morning activities without a deadline. I love having time to spend two hours reading God's Word and meditating on it. And then reading a Christian book. Most mornings there is less rush and I can spend time lingering over the things I love to do. As a teacher, I am blessed with nine weeks of summer. My Bible, book, and coffee are headed out to the patio right now!

    1. Your mornings sound lovely, Debbie. I too like to wake early to allow for that precious alone time and time with Him. I'm trying to get in the habit of taking some of those mornings outdoors while I can. Thank you so much for sharing. Much love. xoxo

  5. Reading! Pure and simple! I'm making my way through all the John Grisham novels ... usually outside on the back porch with a tall glass of iced tea ...

    ;-}

    I love a lazy day!

  6. I really love the lack of routine and spending afternoons at the pool with my kids and our friends. Amusement parks are also a long-time favorite of mine. We spent Saturday at Six Flags in St. Louis and I blogged about it this morning here: http://www.kristinhilltaylor.com/2014/07/summer-adventure-amusement.html

    1. Afternoons by the pool sounds lovely. Amusement parks . . . those roller coasters and I don't do well together. Although my husband claims once he gets me on I'm always smiling. :) Loved your post, Kristin. Blessings. xoxo

  7. Since I live in the South and the ocean is not that far...one of my favorite summertime activities is heading to the beach. Nothing like walking the beach at sunrise to put me in touch with God. Safe travels my friend!!
    Love and ((hugs)),

  9. It's hard to pick a favorite but walking is at the top and reading! I don't have much time for reading during the school year so I indulge in the summer. I just went bike riding today and love it but boy my legs are screaming at me now! Welcome home!

  13. Hmmmm... I don't have a pic to share, but my fav would have to be sitting and relaxing with my hubby and daughter on our patio ... Quiet, lovely time just appreciating each other and laughing. Wait... I DO HAVE A PIC I could share. ;)
Also, I'll share with you that I finally started my version of this like we talked about. Thank you for encouraging me to start! I started today and would love to have you... and any of your friends join up and share. It's called #SharingYou because that's exactly what I want to do. Love you!
