He will not let me fall

I am joining Lisa-Jo Baker and others for Five Minute Friday. Lisa-Jo provides us with a word prompt and we are to write for five minutes with "no extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation."

Today's word: Fall

GO

There is a chill in the air and it feels a bit like fall. The heat has been turned back on as warmth is needed in this home of mine. My husband is gone for several weeks playing Army and I miss being able to wrap myself in his loving arms for the warmth he provides.

I'm afraid the warm summer months will skip on by. Fall will be here all too soon. Then will come winter which brings us to this looming deployment. It will be his first deploymentour first deployment. If I allow myself to spend too much time thinking about what the time apart will be like all I want to do is fall on my bed and cry. Can we skip over all those months instead?

Before my husband left he provided instructions on keeping up with our yard. Quite honestly though, I can't seem to summon up the strength to do it all. I fear everything will fall apart.

Our home is left undone. A maid has been called. It's the first time I've ever called a maid.

My Graffiti Summer challenge has me focused on other things. My mind is always three steps ahead of me wondering where next I should be. Many things are falling to the side, but I hope and I pray that my heart and soul is where God is calling it to be, bringing a ray of lightbringing Christto those who have fallen on harder times.

As David writes in Psalm 55:22, I will cast my cares on the Lord and take comfort in knowing He will sustain me. He will not let me fall.

STOP

Would you stop on by and read more about this Graffiti Summer journey I'm on? You can catch up on my posts here.

  2. Beth -
Thank you for sharing your heart. I can't imagine what it must be like to be married to an enlisted man. My heart and gratitude goes out to you and your family as you shoulder the burden of our nation for so many of us. May God bless you in this new season of your life and remember to let His Word by a light into your path...just one day at at a time, especially as you count the days until your husband's return.

Sarah - visiting from FMF :)

  5. As a guard wife facing an upcoming deployment (next year) as well, I know what you're feeling. If you ever need anything -- someone to ask questions of, someone to cry to, someone to just sit and listen to you... please know that I'm here. Our last deployment was in Fall'08. It feels like forever ago, but the pain and tears and loneliness are still so very fresh for me. The Lord will sustain you! My friend, Katie, at http://www.mrandmrsfoster.com, is in the middle of a deployment now and is doing a bucket list to pass the time and focus on bettering herself while he's gone. Another army wife at http://www.marryingthearmy.com, just wrote a post on Wednesday about running through deployment. She spent the entire separation doing races - half-marathons, etc - all over the country. It was God's blessing to her in that she got to see beautiful places and meet amazing people and create some wonderful memories. The key really is to focus on the positives and the blessings that God can bestow on you during this time. It's best not to wallow in the self pity or loneliness for too long (it's not healthy for you and can be dangerous for him if he's worried about how you're coping.) That being said, it is absolutely okay and good to miss him. It's good to cry when you need to (even before he leaves!) and it's essential to be open and honest with God when your faith is shaken and you wonder whether he's abandoned you (you may not go through that, but I did, and God sent some amazing people into my life to help secure my faith). Sorry for the long comment, I just really felt that these needed to be said, that you needed a hug. Please feel free to email me if you ever need anything -- heartsonguard at gmail :) Hang in there!!!

  6. I love how you used multiple meanings of fall: the season, things falling completely apart, things falling to the side for a while, God sustaining against a fall. Nicely done! Visiting from 5MF and your comment on my post.

  7. Dear Beth
I am sorry to hear that you are going through a hard time at the moment! Yes, life is not easy with one's husband being away for such long times! Don't condemn yourself for hiring help. We all know how much we can and cannot do. Look after yourself, dear one!
    Blessings

  10. Oh Beth...

We do need to connect soon...to pray, to dream, to minister to each other. God will sustain you and although the Fall will come, His mercies are new every morning and every season.
