Snapshot Love: A Getaway and More

Saturday is the day when my friend Shannon and I gather and share our week through photos. We are having so much fun getting to know each other and it's a fun way to not let those moments pass us on by. We'd love for you to join us. This is a blog hop. (At least I hope it is.) This is my first time creating a blog hop so please forgive me if it doesn't work.

Don't have a blog? Share something from your week in comments or on my blog Facebook page.

First can I have a high five? Thanks to my fabulously talented daughter-in-law, I now know how to size my pictures to make them a bit larger (but not too large) and more fun to look at.

The week began with a weekend getaway. I had my handsome husband tag along. He's a good man!

Let us begin...

We stayed at the Grand Geneva in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. It was quite the treat!
I sweet talked us into an upgraded room too. Yeah for me and those military benefits.

Here is the view from our room! I think my husband was aching to get out there to golf.
His lovely wife does not golf though.

After settling in at the Grand Geneva we ventured off to downtown Lake Geneva for lunch. I should mention this town holds special meaning to me as my family spent many summers here. My parents owned a summer home right on the lake...lots of good memories. We will soon get a glimpse of that summer home!

Yes, I took a picture of where we had lunch. The restaurant sits right on the lake and has a gorgeous view!
Most of all, this was a favorite hang out for my family so it's nice to return.

Here is that gorgeous view.

After lunch we strolled around town. It was HOT so before too much strolling could be done a change of clothes was desperately needed. I kid you not if you were in the area you would have seen me stripping on the side of the street. No worries as nothing was revealed. I'm a little shy so this act surprised my husband and had him laughing from a distance.

We learned a lesson as we made are way around town. Don't hope to do some shopping; window shopping will do. Seriously...could the prices be any higher?

I'm lacking pictures from this portion of our trip so you will need to paint a picture in your head through my words or we can simply move on to the following day.

A gift certificate for a Sunday Brunch Boat Tour is what brought us to Lake Geneva.

I loved the feet that led the way to our boat.

Hello Grand Belle! A lovely boat she was.
She took us on a beautiful two and half hour cruise around the lake.

There is nothing significant about this photo other than to say,
who would not want that big flag hanging in the front of their home?
I love our Red, White and Blue and I want this flag!
It may look rather odd hanging from my much smaller home though.

Here we have the home my family spent many summers in. It looks much different from those days.
As we cruised on by I sent my dad a text to tell him, "We just passed our home."
My family still misses this place greatly. So many good memories.

There he is...that handsome husband of mine!
The days are flying by and soon the Army will take him away for too many months.
I want to freeze time when I look at his gorgeous face. Oh how I love him!

Since we are getting to know each other here, this year we will celebrate 23 years together!

Again, just loving our Red, White and Blue!
A great shot to end our time in Lake Geneva with, don't ya think?

All getaways must come to an end. Ours was way too brief but still wonderful. I'm treasuring every moment with this man of mine. God has blessed us greatly and I pray He continues to teach me not to take our time together for granted.

Lessons learned...

1) These two make it possible for us to get away by holding down the fort and watching our crazy dogs. Maybe next week I'll share a picture of the dogs.

2) My son and his wife need to give us some grandchildren.

3) Thankfully, my sister lives right down the street and I'm able to spend time with these adorable children. I spent an hour with them one night during the week and they had me all smiles.

Can they be any cuter?

Favorite photo of the week...

My husband and I lead a Military Support Ministry at our church. We were able to spend time with Josh this past week. Josh is a Marine who lost both of his limbs while in Afghanistan. The beautiful pillowcase in the picture is one of the many made by the children of Living Hope Church. Our hearts were filled from our time together. Please pray for Josh as he continues to recover.

Something you may not know about me...

I'm one of ten children. Yes, you heard me correctly. TEN CHILDREN! There are also two sets of twins. This always amazes people so thought I'd share.

Can you guess who the twins are? I'm not one of them.

Before you leave, remember to hop on over and say hello to Shannon. She is a delight friends and you don't want to miss out on getting to know her too. Thank you for letting me share my week with you. I do so hope you will join in by sharing something from your week.

We'll be praying for Josh - thank you for sharing about your ministry and about his story. I appreciate the service and sacrifices that he and the other troops are willing to make for my freedom. May God bless and protect all our military and the families who sacrifice time with them for our sakes.

  4. Hi Beth, thanks for visiting my blog & inviting me to join your blog hop. I spent a couple weeks as a camp counselor at a camp on Lake Geneva. It's beautiful there. Would love to go back someday. That flag is huge! Wow. It's probably larger than our house. Have a great week! xo, ab
